2016 Ram 5.7 low mileage burning oil/smoke
Recently I have been driving my grandfathers 2016 ram 5.7 back and fourth to Arkansas every other week because of his health. When I first started driving it the truck only had 6,500 miles. I had the oil changed once and noticed the truck was burning oil, maybe around 1 quart every 1000-1500 miles. I was thinking maybe the truck just needed to be driven and the problem would fix itself. However it is still burning oil around 15,000 miles and noticed smoke on start up today. I have read where some people have talked about seals and pvc valve maybe being the culprit. With the truck being so low of mileage I wanted to get some feedback on what others think the problem could be. I appreciate all feedback. Thank you.
I think PCV on that engine is just a fixed orifice tube.... no valve at all... a lotta folks put a catch can in there, for just his problem.
Smoke at startup is usually valve seals. Age will get them, as well as mileage.....
