Default Lifter Tick Fix?

Hi all first post here, I'm currently trying to fix all the issues on a family member's Dodge RAM 1500 (5.7L Hemi V-8) I can, it's got a pretty "nice" lifter tick (assuming bc the noise is from the top of the engine) now I know the miles on it could defiantly cause the tick, as it's got ~320,000 Miles (Not KM) on this son of a gun, but its been driven like a baby for most of its life and probably 80% highway miles, and believe it or not, it didn't get all the maintenance done on time, the owner did skip the oil change and other things for months and some not at all, but the things still gets up and goes, but back to the point, what would you guys and gals recommend to help reduce the noise and prevent any problem arising from it?

Need to know why it is ticking first. Does the noise go away when the engine warms up? or is it constantly there? Getting any misfire codes? What oil ya runnin'?
