Default Exhaust Pressure and its Effects on the Engine

Howdy Folks

I’ve been doing some work on my friends pickup. Its a 2026 1500.

She’d lent it out awhile back and the fella ran over a good sized rock (I’m guessing). She had to get a new tranny put in and the exhaust took a beating so there’s leaks in a few different places.

The first leak was on the passenger side of the crossover pipe, the flange was loose.

second is the actual crossover pipe is now just some of that flexible exhaust hose with some clamps

third is right before the muffler.

There’s a little context anyhow.

First time I drove it the idling was a little lopsided, but that went away after I bolted the crossover pipe back on.

I guess my question is can it be detrimental to the engine at all to have slightly uneven exhaust pressure. Or just some general thoughts/input on the subject would be dandy.

I intend to get everything fixed up proper when time permits but I gotta use the truck to dive a good ways on Monday and there’s more work to do on it than I got time before then haha.

thanks,

I’ll check codes soon

If there is a a problem, the computer will likely see it, and whine about it.

2026???? Are you from the future?

There is likely other damage from hitting the rock......

Not from the future, but the truck is haha. My wheelhouse is more stuff from the last millennium.

It was throwing a code for a lean mixture in bank 2, which I assume is the passenger side. That’d check out cause that’s the side where the coupler was well… uncoupled. But the code is gone now.

and there definitely is more damage, but nothing that has to be addressed right away. Gave it a pretty good look earlier today.

thanks for the reply

Yeah, if there is a leak upstream of the O2 sensor, that WILL throw off the readings. If the code stays gone, should be golden. Need to get the rest of the leaks fixed though.....
