2011 Dodge Ram 1500 charging issues
Hey Guys,
Hoping someone out there may be able to point me in the right direction. My truck stopped charging, replaced the battery and alternator, still no charge, after tracking it down, looks to be an issue with the PCM. I bypassed it by running a 12v with key on to the field of the alternator, it now charges, but I need to add an external voltage regulator as it will charge up to around 16v, depending on RPM and accessories turned on. Any ideas on a voltage regulator to use, and how to connect it? Thanks in advance for any info!!

This is a pretty standard fix on the 2nd gen trucks..... At one time, Mopar used an external regulator, that was basically just a box bolted to the firewall, that did the voltage regulation thing. I think its three wires... and that's it. There are TONS of walkthrus/videos on how to install, and the voltage regulators are cheap.
