I have a question...new to Rams and bought a 16 Ram 1500 5.7. I want to replace the spark plugs with new oem Mopar ones and looking online for them. Most Mopar parts site dont have a pic of the actual plugs, just the box. But i saw some on online sites showing the mopar part number SP143877AB but there are NKG in the pic with the mopar box. I know there are plenty of scams with using Factory parts boxes and emblems etc with other chinese parts in the boxes. Are the Mopar plugs actually NGK plugs and labeled on the plug as such?? I wouldnt think so but hence my post here. These plugs are expensive so I m hunting around for better prices than going to a dealer...any info on these plugs is appreciated...Thanks!

 

From what I am seeing, the Mopar plugs actually say Mopar on them...... Iridium plugs as well, thus, rather expensive...... That said, NGK makes some good stuff as well.

 

I put NGK Iridiums in my 2014 Ram 5.7 and haven't had any issues. You're probably aware of this already, but your Ram likely requires 16 plugs (2 per cylinder) making it extra expensive.

At 25 bucks a plug, on sale...... Yeah, 'expensive' is one way to describe it.

 

$25 per plug?? Rockauto has them for under $7.00.

I was looking at the *genuine* mopar spark plugs, listed on mopar site.

The rare earth plugs have come down a LOT in price though......

 

The plugs from factory are NGK plugs. Go with them.

 

Mopar doesn't make spark plugs, someone else does (in this case NGK) and they just put them in Mopar boxes with a Mopar assigned part number (and the usual healthy price hike). The NGK number is LZFR5CI-11.
