2019 Ram 1500 Classic 3.6L V-6...has anyone had any luck solving the "Service Electronic Braking System" message problem? My dealer said it's a bad sensor but did not offer to fix it...said it will clear up on it's own. It's an inconvenience not having cruise control, but I'm concerned that this will effect braking in some way.

It will like affect the ABS, but, the brakes should still work just fine. No ABS though.....

Did the dealer happen to say WHICH sensor it was?? I would be tempted to simply replace it....

 

The dealer was pretty vague. Probably didn't want to admit it is a known problem and replacement sensors are hard to come by. I heard that there's a recall in process.

 

Do you happen to have the specific diagnostic code number that the dealer read out?

No...they didn't list it on the work order.

 

Sounds like a pretty POS dealer. I would go to an auto parts store and have the code scanned. I thought the ABS shortages were past, there was a module back order issue during peak covid but I think that's subsided also. I got my rear sensor off rock auto, no supply issues there. However I would be inclined to buy the sensor from the store that scans for codes.

 

Thanks for the input. I think the dealer simply did not want to get involved due to the part supply problems.

 

Just be aware that not all parts stores have a scan tool capable of reading out anything other than Powertrain codes. Although more fully-featured scan tools are becoming more available to the general consumer so if it's a busier store they may have stepped up to the higher end tool. But if they claim there are no codes (or at least none for the ABS) you may want to get confirmation their tool is able to access the ABS module of your truck.

Also different scanners read different ABS systems it seems. The Autel ABS scanner I have reads my 06 but not my 14. I use Alfa on my 14 and it wont read my 06.
