hello new to the group! i have purchased the alfaobd software and obdlink sx wich per the website will link up to my truck ! It will not any insight in getting it connected ??

That wasn't the question though. OBDII is an industry standard.... The question is, have you been able to connect to any other vehicle??

It *should* get at least basic data from any vehicle newer than 1996, so, plug it in to whatever else happens to be in the driveway, and see if it works. If it works on something else, then, we can troubleshoot from there.

OBDLink SX is a USB cable rather than a Bluetooth or WiFi OBDII dongle. Are you using AlfaOBD with a Windows PC? I doubt that it will work with a mobile device. The Android-compatible AlfaOBD app expects to connect via WiFi or Bluetooth.

I don't recall ever seeing an option on AlfaOBD to read generic codes. It wants to connect to a specific module of a Fiat Chrysler vehicle individually. At least for the Android app. I have not tried the Windows version of AlfaOBD. But, the OBDLink SX should still work with other OBDII vehicles, although it may be limited to low and medium speed CAN buses and you may need to use a different application to connect to the vehicle.
