Default 2016 Ram 1500 Big Horn Transfer Case Problem

This is driving me nuts!I cannot get the truck to switch into 4WD. When I press the 4WD Lock button I can hear the Front Axel Actuator engaging and the 4WD Lock light comes on. However I am not getting any power to the front wheels.

I opted to change the Transfer Case Control Motor and am getting the same result. I disconnected the motor from the transfer case and had the wife press the 4WD Lock button. Again, I could hear the front axel actuator engage, but the Transfer Case Control Motor did nothing. I was expecting it to rotate as if it was engaging the transfer case into 4WD.

It seems that the Transfer Case Control Motor is not actuating. I’m not sure where to go next.

I have no idea. The TCCMotor is not turning to put the TC into 4WD.

Need a scanner, to see what the system thinks is going on, or, take it to a shop that knows what they are doing. Or, you can just fire the parts cannon at it.... I recommend option 2.

There should be codes or a service 4wd light, some type of control or performance/position code should be present

The only “warning” that has shown up was TRANSFER CASE OVERHEATING or something along those lines. Other than that there are no DTC that are active.

That’s a very good question.
it shouldn’t be, but I can check. It’s easily accessible.

I would wonder if that code being set would block the controller from shifting into some flavor of 4x4..... One of the reasons I really dislike electronic shifting. Just give me the lever on the floor, it's a heck of lot easier/cheaper to fix.

I can try disconnecting power for a bit and see what happens.
