Rain drops falling on my head. Sunroof leak?
After 4 days of my truck in the shop, it was not the drain tubes. They found water was coming in through the seal, making it's way to a spring tensioner, getting on the sunroof track and making it's way in to the roof.
I'm not entirely sure what they did to fix it, aside from a new seal. We'll find out in the next rain I guess.
I wasn't the only truck in the shop with this problem .. 6 others with the same issue. Guy told me it was a sunroof manufacturer defect - whatever that's supposed to mean.
Best of luck,
Matt

During express opening, the sunroof glass panel will first open to the “Comfort Stop” position. A second press of the “OPEN” button on the rocker switch will move the glass panel to the full open position.
I have an 2006 Laramie that I special ordered from the factory. The friggin sunroof started leaking from the "Oh Crap" handles on both sides. I had to bring it to the dealer two times before they even found the leak. The fix lasted a while and now I found out that the extended warranty doesn't cover it. Don't get me wrong, I love my truck but it was a big mistake ordering it with the sunroof. You would think that they would be able to build a truck that doesn't leak, especially after dropping 35K on it! I mean wft? If I could turn back time I would have done my best to keep a close eye on it and try to qualify for the lemon law. So if your truck is very new, you might consider this. Then buy a truck without the sunroof. I'm going to try some clear caulk or silicone and just lock it shut. Any advice on what will work the best? I don't want to play games with unclogging the hoses and such. Thanks in advance and the oppurtunity to vent, lol!
My Durango had water draining into the fusebox during unusually heavy rain. Found the sunroof drain hole clogged on the driver's side. Cleared drain hole of debris. Blocked drain hole and poured water in drain trough to see where water would go if the hole was clogged. As soon as the water got to a certain level, it spilled into the sunroof track seam, it immediately started leaking into A-pillar and into fuse box area. I've attached some pics of the drain hole and track seam area as well as the normal location that water exits when the drain is unclogged and also one of the fuse box. This forum helped me diagnose the problem, so I thought it might save some others some time, money and headaches if I posted some pictures.
I am bumming, truck still at dealership. They said they can't find the leak yet. I will let it stay there until they can find it and get it fixed. We have three days of rain on the way in Eastern North Carolina. I would rather have it in their bay than leaking in my driveway. Wish me luck and hope they find it and fix it soon, I am having withdrawal pains. Driving a 2001 Grand Caravan is just not the same as driving the truck with a Hemi and the other goodies in it. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem looking like someones dad driving this thing, but I like the truck better. So do my three boys.
My sunroof appears to have the issue of needing adjusted. The sunroof goes through the motions of closing correctly, but it is an 1/8" below the roof line. Is there a way to adjust the motor or alignment when closed?
Trial and error. Dropped headliner. Then found there was adjustment in the 4 screws holding the sunroof on (didnt need to drop headliner for this adjusment. Just remove the plastic decorative accordian fan pieces by slipping them off.) Adjusted the rear screws but still came up short by a 1/16".
Almost screwed myself by starting to take the motor apart.
Dropped entire motor assembly to allow the sunroof brackets freedom to move. Slid them until the sunroof sealed.
Remember, as per other threads, make sure the sunroof is already in the closed position!
Good thing about dropping headliner, I was able to remove all of the leaves stuck between the roof and headliner. Also was able to access the rear drain tubes and blew them out.
Hope this keeps others from doing hit and miss on adjustment and saving some $ at repair shops.
