Default Rust problems

Do any of you with the laramie chrome bumpers or any package that has chrome find they have a lot of rust spots all over them? i have it all over my tailgate on the ram head, rear bumper, from bumper, grill and even all over my back tailgate where the paint is. my last ram was a sport and im thinking i should have went with another one if this is how its going to look all the time.

Plastic doesn't rust, so that's not what's up with your ram head & grille. As for the bumpers and tailgate, give it a good hand wash and wax and it will probably come out.

Yeah, the grille and emblems are plastic so they can't rust.

It could be rail dust from when it was shipped from the factory to the dealer. How long have you had it?

Depending on where you live, could also be from snow plowing.

I have had my Laramie for 5 months now and have no issues with rust. Are you near any factories where maybe there is some kind of fallout? We had that problem here from the Ford foundry.

my buddie has an 09 ram slt and hes got rust on the bumpers i wonder if its something to do with the way they dip the bumper not sure though. its not good on a 2009 truck to experience rust so hes pretty ticked. my sport has the color matched bumpers so he has nothing to compare it too

Whatever the issue take it back and have it replace/fixed, it's under warranty. I live in South florida, go to beach all the time and trailer boat to the ramps, no problems. Also may want to try a claybar. If your sprinkler has alot of minerals (iron) you will need to use the clay bar to remove.

I just notice rust spots on my front chrome bumper.Truck was just built in Sept.2009.I was removing the first snow fall from the bumper ,when I noticed the rust spots. Can't tell yet ,if it was dripped on,or if the rust came from under the chrome. The chrome does appear to be very thin and patchie. Not going to worry about it till spring time.See if it gets any worst. Was thinking about painting the chrome bumpers black to match truck colour.

Warranty will replace your bumper if it gets rust on it. Best to wait until spring though. Maybe they'll substitute sport bumpers for those of you with monotone paint.
