THey will not replace, but they will likely claybar/polish/wax. As stated above, it is not the bumper rusting. It is particles laying on top of the bumper and emblem that is rusting.

For those that do not do it.... WAX your trucks! It will help to prevent this kind of thing. Also, at leart spray it off once a week in the winter at a high pressure kind of place if it is just to cold to wash. Hit the bottom side to if possible.

It is most likely rail dust. Mine had little speckle rust spots all over it (Early 2009). I clay barred it. The dealer clay barred it. No success. They wanted to wet sand it, but I told them no. The spots aren't noticeable anymore until you get up close. Hope that helps.

They will replace. They did so with a rusty chrome bumper on a 3rd gen.

They will replace under the warranty, had one done before on my 02, also may be rail dust or outfall from manufacturing centers. If they tell you no and you walk away with your tail b/n your legs then yes they will not replace, bear in mind these people will try anything to not have to do anything for you if they don't have to, its up to you to stick to what you are entitled to and make them take care of you.. This is unfortunate but more true today than ever regardless of a paper warranty.

Secret Agent Man, you should do yours now, the more time you take the more excuses you are going to give them to give you a hard time about it.

My 09 Laramie chrome bumpers so far don't have any rust. I was trying to convey my past experiences with a 3rd gen to try to help those with rust problems on this forum. With my 3rd gen, it was the dealer who suggested I wait until spring to have them replace it because it kept the salt off of my new bumper. They said they recommend any corrosion related warranty work to be done in the spring with all of their customers. They make a note in the system of the mileage and the time of the claim if you might go out of warranty before spring. I guess its pretty typical that all the automakers usually get a spike in their warranty for corrosion after winter every year. Anyway, what you guys decide to do is up to you. I wouldn't want to get a brand new chrome bumper though and then immediately have to drive it through several more months of salt.

I washed my truck for the first time in about 3 weeks due to EXTREME cold here in Iowa. I too noticed small rust spots all over my rear bumper and tailgate. Asked my warehouse manager, who is an experienced auto painter, what he thought. He is going to use a claybar and is confident that that will take care of it....which is fine BUT why should I worry about something like this on a $52K truck???? My 05 F150 KR had NO issues with rust spots. It is NOT rail dust, bought my truck May 9, 2009. I also have my truck waxed 6 times a year or more by my warehouse manager so this is not a "lack of wax" issue. This issue concerns me!!

I also noticed my "plastic" rims were really hard to wash and still didn't get all of the "specs" off. Will take some elbow grease to get looking new. If not, my local dealer WILL be replacing my "plastic" rims!

UPDATE: Went to my dealer and they said it is from the dust off of the brakes. Which could be with the aerodynamics of the truck and the type of brakes. He stated that if the truck sits and the brakes rust a bit that it will fly off when you hit the brakes. Sounds logical.

I had this occur on my prior truck as well ('99 F-150). I took it to a body shop, and the guy said the rust specs were from the brake dust. Quite common according to him.

Brake dust is the usual cause, keep it waxed and use a lite duty rubbing compound and/or clay bar, then get wax on it again. Make sure it's clean before you start or you'll scratch the hell out of it.
