Default Eco diesel Ram reliability

Hey guys.

I currently have a 2017 Tradesman with the Pentastar. It's been a pretty good truck but I'm thinking about possibly getting something else. Its got 80k miles, so it could be about time. A local dealership has a 2022 Lone Star with the eco diesel. When i went in to test drive it, they said it needed a recall to be done on the fuel pump. I remember when these came out, there was a recall then too. How are the eco diesel trucks holding up so far? Would those of you who own one recommend it and do you think the extra cost is worth it?

Thanks everyone!

Currently, given the difference in price between gas and diesel fuel, I don't see any advantages at all to springing the premium price for the diesel engine.

What about in terms of reliability and/or longevity? If you were planning on keeping the truck for 10+ years, would it be worth it to look into?

It's a crap shoot. I have seen the gas engines with well over 200K miles on 'em, and I have seen them blow up with less than 50K..... I don't see a lot of complaints about the diesel, but, they aren't nearly as common as the gas engines either. Personally, I prefer the gas engines, as they last a long time, when properly cared for, and repairs are significantly less.......
