Default WTB 2003 4.7 liter Durango engine to rebuild

Looking for a 4.7 liter engine as a fun first project for my two boys & myself. They helped me replace a cracked head in my high mileage 4.7 this summer and enjoyed it, so i figured it would be a good project. I'm looking for a complete long block, don't really need intake & everything else unless it comes with it. Current motor is getting tired with 140k on it and is burning some oil. The plan would be to rebuild one over the winter and swap it out in the spring when I promised them we could do a few more things on the truck. (lift kit, rims / tires, etc.)

Need to keep it reasonably cheap.... local junkyards in the Western NY area don't seem to have anything available.

Thanks!

Bob

i know VA is a long way to drive but there's a 01 durango and an 02 durango in a jy near me. both have 4.7. both engines are 90-95% complete. the 02 is missing the timing cover and front accessories but the 01 seems untouched except for a few small things. not sure of mileage or if anything is wrong with them. the 4.7s come up often around here. mostly wrecks or tranny issues

Default Contact information?

I appreciate the lead. Do you have any contact information for the jy? Might be worth a weekend trip....

Thanks!

I have one thats only missing the oil pan, intake, and the pulleys that I got off a guy for 100 bucks I was going to keep it for parts but I could sell it the only problem is that I am in southern Mississippi.

If you want it just name a price. It ran when it came out the guy just wanted a hemi in his Durango.

i think the phone number is listed on their website. you can also view the inventory that they have. the same people own 2 junkyards. one has 2 durangos with 4.7s, the other has 1 with a 4.7 in it. they change their inventory a lot though so that may change if you decide to make it down here.

website is www.chesterfieldauto.com if you decide to come down, i could show you where both are located as long as i don't have to work.

Thanks, I'll check them out and see what they have.

Dells33, thanks much for the offer, but southern Mississippi is just a *bit* far to drive! Sure would be nice to get out of the snow though!
