Default WTB: 1995-2001 Radio (Infinity preffered)

I'm looking for a Stock Stereo for my Daughters 1996 Dodge Stratus. Anything will do for the right price. If possible, I'd prefer a CD player over a Cassette deck, an EQ would be nice, and a Infinity stereo over a plain Jane.

I live in NY, ZIP Code 11757. I can pay via paypal or if need be another method. Please PM me what you've got and how much shipped to me you want for it. For what it is worth, the stock radio had a mounting screw on each side. I bought a stereo from a junkyard (from a Neon, I think) that had a mounting screw on the right side and the bottom. I think that if I cut off the bottom mounting tab, it'll fit (and only be held in by the right side screw).

-Thanks, Ken

BTW: If you post here that you are PM'ing me, I'll get an email so I'll know to check my PM's.

You can buy really nice after market units for pretty cheap these days. Why go back to a factory unit

Because for $40 or $50 and two screws, I'd be done. I know I can get a Sony head unit from Amazon for about $70-$80, but then I'd need a DIN adapter for another $20 or so and, at that point I might as well get the harness plugs for another $15 or so. Since my daughter is in college, money is very tight and frankly I doubt she'd really care about what kind of stereo is in the car. It's having the car that she cares about.

All in all, I figured that I'd ask here first. I'm sure that someone has 'upgraded' from a stock radio and has the old unit sitting on a shelf in the garage. I figured they might be enticed to shipping that stock unit to me for an extra $50 of spending money.

If I don't get a reply in a week or two, I'll most likely go the aftermarket route. So far I've bought two units from junkyards and neither one has worked properly.

-Ken

Thanks for the reply, I've bought a unit from a local junkyard for $50 I got a AM/FM, Cass, & CD player out of a Town & Country. I got to test the unit out before he took it from the minivan (the stereo part at least). I'm still interested, but not actively looking at the moment. Please feel free to send me the information once you find the stock unit. I'd still buy one as a spare.

For now my Daughter is happy, and therefore I'm happy. It's funny how we go from pleasing our Mothers, to pleasing our Wives, to pleasing our Daughters....

-Thanks, Ken

BTW: I did have to cut off the bottom mounting tab since it interfered with the radio sitting into the dash (it'd hit the climate controls). Once I cut that off, I just secured it with the right side screw and put the bezel on. It's surprisingly secure I thought it might wobble a bit or be loose, but it is solid as can be.

Here's a picture of the stock OEM CD unit I bought for $50. The only problem was this unit has a mounting tab at the bottom left rather then on the left side. I had to cut the tab off in order to get the stereo to fit into the dash (it was hitting the climate controls). It fits nice and tight with only the one screw and bezel holding it in.
