Yes, with the 180 tstat, the Hypertech is definitely the best mod I have done. I will say that the program didn't really "wake up" until I put in the NAPA 180 thermostat. I would highly suggest doing the tstat at the same time as the Hypertech for the most improvement....

i'm wondering if the 5.9 vs 5.2 makes a difference? anyone know? i haven't done any research so i'm just clueless on that. i think it does though. it should anyway.

The hypertech website does have the programmers by year. 2001 is model #50006 and should cover all Dodge trucks and SUV's that have the 5.9 and 5.2 liter engines

Makes no difference if it is a 5.2 or a 5.9, it will work for either as long as it is for the proper model year and vehicle.
