Default hot deck

i installed a sony cd player, 2 new speakers in the rear side panels, and door speakers that were replaced before i got the truck,in my dakota and seemed to work fine for the first few days. lately when turned up all the speakers shut off. i narrowed it down to the left rear speaker and disconnected it, now i can turn it up. but now yesterday i smelled hot wires, pulled the deck out and couldnt touch it, it was so hot. what the hell is wrong with this picture.

Get an ohm meter and check the speaker leads to ground ... I'd guess that you have a wire shorted to ground and it's pulling excessive current to ground

4 ohms on the 2 new speakers in the back panels, don't know what the front speakers are, they were there when i got the truck, not original though.
amp powers the dual 8' bass box only.

I'd use an Ohm meter and check EACH speaker lead to ground after that go across each pair of speaker leads and check impedance ... since the one set is unknown it might be causing troubles... anything lower then 4 ohms can be troubles, dunno if there is any other wiring troubles that could cause it ...Double check the wiring on the stock harness adapter... Since you switched the decks and have the same trouble It sounds like main wiring troubles... Do you have the premium Infinity system with the built in amp ???

i don't have a meter that works. only have today to work on this so its gonna be a process of elimination till it works. being that i had a fit of rage yesterday and smashed the sony deck deep into the dash and breaking buttons off, i'll be using another deck, (jvc dosent have rca inputs) i have to remove from another vehicle and starting from scratch. rewire the whole dam thing.

no infinity hardware. its all been replaced with something else by last owner, and left a mess for me.

How is the deck grounded itself?
