What size and type box does the Type R suggest? And the Kicker L7? You should take that into account, along with how much space to use in the truck and budget. And what sound and purpose you will use it for.

If you put the sub in a ported box without knowing what size it needs and the tuning frequency it will most likely sound like crap. And you could rather easily damage/destroy the sub by either overpowering it or un-loading it due to the lack of back-pressure below the tuning frequency.

Find the specs on the sub first, and then find a box that meets those specs and has decent construction to it.
