Default Will 6-1/2" speaker fit in front doors?

I know the fitment guides say the front speakers on my 04 QC are 6x9, but I want to install 6-1/2" Polk Momo speakers. Has anyone installed 6-1/2" round speakers in the front doors and if so, did you have to do much modification? Where did you mount your crossovers and tweeters? Thanks much.

If they're components you should be able to make a bracket to put the tweeter and midwoofer in the 6x9 location. Just cut a piece of MDF or marine grade plywood to fit the 6x9 mount and make cutouts in the middle of it for the midwoofer and the tweeter.

Yes they will fit with an adapter. In fact this is what we do 99% of the time in those trucks. We use a sheet of blank ABS.

Cool, I've made adapters out of plywood in the past, but the ABS sounds like a better material. Thanks for the input. Any ideas on the crossovers? I've heard people say I should put them under the dash, but then I've got to figure out a way to get 4 conductors into the doors for the driver and tweeter.

You might want to use some sound deadening on the baffle and around it on the door. Not much more trouble if you are making a new baffle anyways.

Mount the crossover in the door, theres gotta be room somewhere. I've mounted Infinity crossovers in the door before. Just find some room where it wont hit the panel.

You should definately do that since you will have the door panel off....

They sell premade adapters too if you don't feel like making one

Go with the premade adapters, I can get them at my local shop for 8 dollars a door. How can I justify the time and effort on a piece of MDF....I couldnt. Ha. 6-1/2" compnenets generally sound better than 6x9's. Speaking very generally........
