my friend just bought a sound system. subs, amp and new head unit. and well ive gone through a couple and lots of my friends have em. this one just didnt turn out like we thought. im pretty sure its because the subs are in a sealed box. if he switches to a ported box will it let the subs hit harder? right now you have to crank it up real loud in order to really feel the subs.

Make sure the subs arent out of phase.
Switch the speaker leads around on one of the subs and see if it hits any harder. You'll know as soon as you unhook one of them if they were the wrong way. Now on another note, is the box chambered? Meaning is there a divider between the two subs? There should be, and if there isn't then they will actually hit HARDER if theyare out of phase. So either way, switch the leads around and see if there is any improvement.
Is the amp on High pass (HPF), instead of Low-pass (LPF)?
Also, sorry to say, but that sonby 1200W amp it only like 165W RMS x2 @ 4ohm. Nowhere near 1200W.
How are they wired? Series? Parallel? is the amp bridged? We need to know all of these things to help you out.
