Default not sure what to do

I have a 2004 Durango with the 6CD infinityhead unitand Iwant to be able to connect my xm radio and ipod to my radio without having to transmit the signal through fm frequencies. I would really like to install a new aftermarket head unit, but since the stock radio is such an odd shape, i'm worried that i would have to modify the wood trim surrounding it. plus i'm not sure if the radio is a 1 or 2 DIN. Is there a way to install a 1 or 2 DIN head unit without modifying the the trim around the stock head unit? I also looked into buying a head unit from a mopar dealer that had a front auxillary jack, but it is extremely expensive, and the head unit seems as if it will lack a lot compared to an aftermarket brand. I'm not sure as to what i should do right now and i'm wondering if you guys have options that i do not know about. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance....

They make dash kits that go perfectly into your dash andthere are alot of radio's with direct i-pod control and with xm also. Look into pioneer radio's.

Yea, I've been looking at dash kits butI cannot find one that would mold around a standard 1 or 2 din h/u. All the ones i've been looking at are molded around the odd shpaed stock h/u. Any ideas?

Umm... that's what you need. Any dash kit is going to mold to the factory radio opening and fit a Single or Double Din radio.

Here is the kit you need. It is a Metra Dash kit available at any stereo shop. Part #99-6507

That will fit the factory radio opening and hold a Single Din aftermarket radio.

Ohhh... I see what you mean. I thought you were refering to a dash kit like below...

I'll probably use that so I can replace the stock h/u and then upgrade the speakers later on.

Thanks again...

Yeah.

If you wantedto do aDouble Din radio, you can get the Factory radio bezel for the Durangos with the factory Navigation, then get the metra dash kit 95-6510 I believe, and that will let you mount a Double-Din aftermarket radio into your dash. You canget the D-Din Bezel from the dealership, or online. Some poeple do this because Double Din radios are really nice, and they look more "factory" when done.
