RE: Subs cut out..
Use ohms law to figure amperage......Watts diveded by volts...
Anyways 1000 watts is not enough power to demend an HO alt. Get 10' of 0 gauge wire to do the big 3, remember you will need 6 ring terminals as well. www.knukonceptz.com has pretty good stuff for cheap.

An hour at most on that car. Alternator is right on top and easy to get to. Ring terminals are like this : http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...odID=RT1/0516R And you very capable of doing it your self. All you need is some sockets/wrenches and a hammer/crimper/vice.

Any system can require a high ouput alt. They didn't design these trucks to be an extra load with such current draw. Most rams are rated at about 130-140A stock, but some run over their rating . But even then, the SX750.1 has a max current draw of about 80 amps. You're already using HALF of the alt's power with just that amp. Plus the 300, which is probably about another 25-30, (80 + 25 = 105) That only leaves you 25-35 amps. Figure in any extra off road lights, the factory ECU,factory lights, Ignition, blower motors, ect and you've EASILY maxed out that factory alternator.
When they built vehicles and calculate the size alt. to put in they usually calculate what the vehicle by itself will be drawing, plus 50-55% for initial starting, excess draw, ect. So figure on a 140A alt, they figure, the vehicle, all by itself, is going to draw about 60-65A. 80 + 25 + 65 = 170 Amps!
He's easily over-drawing on his factory alternator.

Technically speaking yes. But numbers and paper are much different than real world. Like I said I run a lot more power than that on my stock alt in the Lac. If he decides to do the big 3 I still think he should be fine, also you should run the biggest wire to the amps that it accepts. Even though there are standards on what you should run, I've found first hand even if its a short run of thicker wire compared to thinner, it gives you better results, especially with a Kicker amp they are very efficient if you give them the voltage.
