Default sat radio and head unit

Just upgraded from 05 to 07 1500 qc was wondering about the radio. I had sirius in the 05 aftermarket and now have sirius in 07 factory. Problem is the head unit is single cd no mp3 and no display on sat radio (ref model I believe). I would like to put my aftermarket head unit in for the lacking abilities of the factory. Question is: Is the sat antenna built into the head unit( when say antenna I also mean the box needed to decode? the signal.) Or can I just put my head unit in and plug in the cables from the factory setup? I would just like to know before I go to do the install. Thanks in advance.

The Sat antenna is on the roof of the car..not sure on if you can still use it with aftermarket, I think you can though.

the satellite tuner from the factory is not compatible with aftermarket head units. you should still have the aftermarket sirius tuner from the 05, no?

Thanks for the replies and help. Yes I do have the tuner from the 05 just wanted to see if it was worth the time and effort to swap out before free year was up. Thanks again.

If you have the Infinity system you need a special adapter in that truck as well. It's a $75 harness. Otherwise you need to bypass the factory amp. If you don't do one of the 2, the aftermarket radio will not even work.
