What should i look for in component systems. Kinda a newbie to them so if i could get some basic info for online shopping that would be great. Perhaps some recomendations as well. my music taste tends towards rock, metal and punk.

There really isnt anything you need to look for specifically. You jst need to figure out what your budget is and start looking in that price range. Some popular brands are Diamond, CDT, Focal, Pioneer Premier, Infinity, Polk.... there is alot. You should really try to get to some local shops and listen to as many sets as you can. Really pay attention to how the tweeter sonds. IMO nothing is worse than a harsh tweeter. Try www.woofesetc.com for a start. What is your budget? Amping these speakers...even if its jst 60rms a side will make a huge difference in the sound.

I have a friend who used these and they where very reasonable in price and they sound great!

Full-Range AS Series Speakers
Removable TWEETER
Each AS Series Speaker system features a removable tweeter with included mounting hardware.
This allows you to position the tweeter in factory locations (if available) or to install them in a location that is more appropriate for enhanced audio imaging.
