Default '05 dakota receiver replacement

Hi, guys,
This is my first post and I'm pretty sure I'm in the right place.
I was thinking of replacing the stock stereo with a pioneer. I usually go through Crutchfield for the stuff. I have replaced the speakers with Polks in my truck.
Anyway, Crutchfield has a note for my truck that fold down face receivers won't work. When i emailed them about this they suggested a pioneer that has the cd slot in the front. It's a nice looking unit and is almost the same as the one I installed in my wife's Jeep. It only has 2.2 volts from the preamps as opposed to 4 volts in the model I wanted.
The main question I have is has anyone installed a fold down or flip face stereo in a '05 Dakota without a problem. Could Crutchfield be wrong? The area for the radio is flat and I can't forsee why there would be a problem.
Thanks for the time and any advice or thoughts.
Vinny

in my 07 Dak (which I think has the same dash as an 05) prior to installing the Kenwood 719 I was running a JVC KD-G830 which has a fold down face.....used the Scosche CR1286 bezel kit but needed to install the deck without the plastic trim ring supplied by JVC so the face would go down

dunno if that helps or has any bearing on the Pioneer deck you're looking at
