Default Road Noise makes Factory Installed UConnect a waste of money

I purchased a 2006 Datatona Charger with factory installed UConnect & Nav System for my wife this year. We are extreamly pleased with the car and for the most part are happy with the functionality of the UConnect. However, the background noise the UConnect microphone picks up is a problem. While the passengers in the car can here the incoming conversation perfectly clear over the radio speakers the call participants(not in charger) have a hard time hearing because of road noise picked up by the UConnect microphone. Rain and windshield wipers only compounds the background noise problem. We can't seem to find any information in the vehicle manual on the UConnect microphone sensitivity. And the road noise is so prominate that my wife is thinking of abandoning the UConnect feature all together. I believe the problem to be the microphone in the rearview mirror and am wondering if there is a 3rd party solution, say remote microphone?

Thanks

you could find the microphone and make a little more directional with say a piece of dense material, or a small piece of foam

My Charger had an unusable uconnect. I had a piece of 1"X1" sound deadening foam which was folded in half and place between the windshield and the mirror. This eliminated 80% of the noise. I used to slow down to 50 MPH and the noise was still a problem. I have had this repair up to 80MPH in the rain with the issue is now managable. The cost is about $1.95. Dodge was no help at all. It is ugly but effective. I have attached pictures
