i don't know exactly what model they are but you won't find them on the infinity site do to them being essentially garbage. i know people will dissagree with me "oh but they are infinity" but when you buy a new car even if you buy the premium sound system it still has paper cones in your speakers with makes it sub-par. the infinity perfects have a nice white material for the cones and thats what i have and those things rock in combination with my 3 subs. admittedly if you just listen to your music at a normal level and don't want to put in subs then those will be fine for you but i put in two 10's in the back of my truck and within a week blew out one of the "stock" infinity speakers, i listen to my music fairly loud, but since i upgraded and switched to a cd deck with a sub out feature i haven't had a problem again

In my opinion stock infinity sound systems blow hard! I have a stock system in my 94 LHS and when I bought it and saw the Infinity logo on the speaker covers I was thrilled! Then when I got the car home and tried to play with it to tune it to my likeing was severly dissapointed and promptly tore the whole thing out speakers, head, and all. Hwystar

The infinties in any factory system are not retail production models. I dont mean to offend anyone with this post but having worked in the stereo biz a while i strongly suggest that when buying a new vehicle do NOT get any of the upgraded systems, ESPECIALLY BOSE, if you can help it. The speakers are by no means premium they just have the retail name on them, and yes they do sound better than regualr factory but cant hold a candle to aftermarket. Worse yet if you do decide to go aftermarket you usually have to bypass the factory amp (extra install charge) aftermarket speaker resistances usually dont match resistance with these amps. This of course is very proprietary so if you blow a speaker you usually have to go to the dealership for the system speakers. BOSE is the worst of all because each speaker has its own ampt that shouldnt be for other speakers (doing so will sound terrible and probably blow the amp or speaker) if you replace the system in a bose setup each amp must be bypassed and usually speaker plates have to be made because the speaker wholes are wierd sizes and the head unit must be replaced as you cant adapt the factory to work with aftermarket. All of these issues vary from vehicle to vehicle. Bottom line: when buying a vehicle save your money on that "premium" sound system. Take it and go to a reputable aftermarket stereo store and you will get much more for your money. Most dealershps will actually have accounts with local stores so that you can get aftermarket equipment fincanced in the deal as long as you are under bank advance (usually 115% of book value of the vehicle) Some places, liked a dealership i used to work for actually have aftermarket and accesory departments because they know people have figured out that aftermarket is usually better than stock and they want to capitilize on it, which makes sense because car loans are usually far lower rates than credit cards. Fortuanatly for you james the dodge infinity setup is one of the easier ones to rewire.

PS this is really gonna hurt some feelings but aftermarket infinity really sux too. They used to be good about 5 yrs ago but they really have fallen off. Alot of their speakers have ceramic dome tweeters (so a peice of rock is handling your high frequencies) They have really been far surpassed by alot of other companies. The perfects are the only ones i can stand to listen to but you can do alot better.

Agreed! Trying to implement ANYTHING aftermarket into a stock bose system is a chore in itself...

I have an 2001 Dodge Ram Quad.
Blew the speaker in my door panel...can't find anything to replace it because it has a built in amp on the speaker itself.
What are my options?
Or, should I rip the stock INFINITY system out and start fresh?

They want 250.00 to replace just the speaker from the dealer!

Thanks.

That is ludicrous, rip it out and start fresh!

Default RE: infinity question

I just finished a drawn out heated discussion with Infinity. They state that the "infinity" system in the Dodge Ram is NOT an "Infinity" system. They said they just "constructed" stuff to the specs they were given by MOPAR. They agree the stuff is junk and will not take any responsibility for the poor sound. They blame everything on Dodge and told me to deal with Dodge, not them. They will not give any suggestions to enhance the poor system and even suggested I get a real "Infinity" system.

I would suggest we do everything possible to discourage anyone from purchasing any Infinity products.

why discourage purchasing Infinity? It is the car companies. They were telling you the truth. DMX gives the specs AND they want it cheap. If they were to make the OEM like the aftermarket, they would take a major bath, therefore no profit.
