Default Help needed !!!- new stereo install

I bought a new stereo, the dash mount kit and the right harness for my '01 Caravan SE.

When I took out the factory stereo, there are 2 harnesses (as I expected), but there is also a third wire - it's white with a purple stripe, and has a white and red connector, which plugs into the factory deck...the connector is about 1" x 3/4" x 1/4"....it's a 2 pronged connector (although only uses one prong).

What is it?...please help.

PS. I know it's not the antenna, or the ground...I found those ok.

You should try to find a wiring diagram for your car/truck. I installed my h/u two weekends ago and all my wires matched up to the wires on the harness adapter. My h/u came with its adapter but I assume it would be the same as an aftermarket. So if you have all the wires matched up on your harness to your stock wires then I really wouldn't worry about it. Since is definately isn't a ground or power wire, I would power the headunit up to see if everything works, If I were to guess I would say thats the mute wire, I did not hook that wire up when I did my install.

Cool...thanks very much bud, I'll finish the install in the morning...all the wires in the new unit are accounted for, so finger's crossed.

Just an update....it's all good...I'm done.

I just taped up that connection, popped in the new stereo, and it sounds fantastic...I was gonna replace all the speakers, because they buzzed with the factory system, but they sound great now, so there's an expense I won't bother with for now.

I read somewhere, that connection is a PCI Bus, whatever the hell that's for.

"Good Riddence Factory Unit" - very happy camper today!
