2007 Ram OE radio choices
My dad has a 2007 Ram 2500 Mega Cab with an REF radio. I bought him a Sirius Sportser to go into it and it worked well for 18 months when it died. It was installed to the windshield and had a bunch of wires where it plugged into the aux input on the left lower corner of the radio. My mom doesn't like all the wires so we have been investigating replacing the radio with another OE radio that has the Sirius either installed or can be plugged into the back. My research has given me no good information. They would really prefer a OE look/style radio. Hence my questions.
Does the RAQ radio have a built in Sirius tuner?
Does the RAQ radio have the ability to attach a Sirius tuner behind the radio?
If you can attach it from behind, what do you do with the antenna? It sounds like if it was installed at the factory the antenna was located near the CHMSL.
Does the RAQ radio fit in the opening that the REF was in? Pop out the old, pop in the new?
Will there be any issues with the REF having 4 speakers and the RAQ having 7?
Anything else I need to know?
Anybody looking to sell a OE radio that has Sirius installed?
Thanks,
Bruce

I'm not sure what the REF and RAQ radios are. But I'm assuming that the REF is the basic cd player that doesn't have a 6 disc changer and that the RAQ has the 6 disc. If that's that, then the RAQ would be the perfect choice for you. The RAQ does have the built-in Sirius radio in it. Check eBay for one and see if they have any info on it and also ask them. Hope I helped. I'll check back later for you.
Thanks. Yes the REF is the base radio with CD (no changer) and has an aux input on the front lower left.
From the pics in the owners manual, the RAQ (which does have a CD changer) doesn't have the aux input (I could be wrong).
Does the RAQ have an integrated Sirius or do you have to buy one of the add on ones?
Can you plug in the add on Sirius into the back of the REF? I think the only additional input is the aux in front?

Ok, so I got it right.
The RAQ does NOT have an AUX input. Now, on my truck the antenna for Sirius is on the roof. I'm not sure where it goes to. I'm pretty sure that the RAQ has Sirius integrated into it. I'll look that up for you right now and get back to you in a minute.
I think that Sirius can be plugged into any radio now-a-days. Just buy the unit for it and plug it in. I've seen many cars with that. But if the RAQ does have Sirius in it, then I think that that'd be your best choice.

Check out this eBay listing:

Here it says that that radio is Sirius satellite ready. So I'm assuming that all the Ram's are. That one there has an AUX input. If you don't mind that it has or doesn't have an AUX input, you could go to the eBay search, type in Dodge Ram OEM Radio and the first one that showed is the RAQ one.

That Ebay one looks like and REF one to me (has the aux input in the lower left corner). Any radio with an aux input will be "satellite ready". Just trying to avoid the wires out front. I gues i could ask him for a picture of the rear of the radio or if it says "REF" next to where to has the "compact disc" logo.
i got one i could sell to you. i just put a mygig in to my truck. it an ref with the sat radio and aux input, single cd

gobuffs, if hugekikd 2007's radio does not work for you, I'll be changing my OE radio on my 2005 Ram 1500 and I'll be able to sell you mine. It has Sirius radio and aux input.
I believe you need to see if the radio has a mode button on it.

Thanks for the offers, but my dad went and bought another Sirius radio that will plug into the front aux input.
I don't think any OE radio has an integrated Sirius tuner...I believe they all have an add on box that plugs into the back on certain models. I could be wrong however.
