Thinkin about gettin a cool head unit for my sxt and new speakers for my 96.what do you have . thinkin about gettin pioneer 3 way for my 96 and a legacy really futurestic head unit for my sxt.what do you guys think/

 

The best you can buy is alpine. Personelly to expensive for me. But that is the best money can buy. Next is kenwood, i personelly dont like em, just a thing with me. 3rd is pioneer Pioneer is reasonable and i like em. I go to walmart spend like 200 on a pioneer deck go back to the factory site and its usually like 50 dollars lower than company price same deck. I am runnin a DEH P3600. I got some 3 way 6 in a halves i had in my ford im gonna modify to fit my single cab dodge. But the best speakers you can buy are alpines too, next is MTX and so on. Its all in what you can afford and what you like

 

Legacy sux. For head units stick with alpine, clarion, pioneer, or kenwood.

 

My top three choices on HU's are Alpine, Eclipse, Clarion. For a cheaper but still good HU, you should look at Panasonic. BUT, with Alpine's new budget lines...they are pretty affordable now!

As far as speakers, look into some COMPONENTS. They are a separate mid-bass, tweeter, and passive xover. They give you WORLDS better sound. I'd recommend CDT. Contact Don on aim: djdilliodon OR islandsound1@yahoo.com He's an authorized CDT dealer. Look into a Profile cl400 to power the CDT components! Stay away from brands like legacy, pyramid, pyle, boss, etc. They are trash, flea market brands. If you're also in the market for subs LMK and I can suggest some good but cheap alternatives.

Crutchfield.com is pretty good for comparing different stereos and speakers.

And if you like MP3s there are some factory decks and indash changers that you may find on ebay.
Might not fit or plug into your 96 but the SXT may be new enough.

 

crutchfield is good, but they are expensive. I wouldn't buy from there unless you know its a deal.

 

think im going with 3 way pioneer speakers for my 96 and a pioneer mp3 unit worth 600 bucks getting a sweet deal on it. pioneer is pretty good and dependable.

 

Do what I did with my SRT-4, I changed everything over to Alpine. As everyone else has already said, Alpine is simply the best when it comes to head units and I also love their speakers. You can get Alpine head units for as little as $130 now. I bought my Alpine head unit a few years ago, I fell in love with everything about this one particular model, but it was a bit pricey at $400. I waited until the next years models were released and they had to get last years units out for the new ones and the one I had been panting over all year was on sale for $100 off, so I got it for only $300. A local car audio shop had the exact same head unit priced at $560, so get it at either Circuit City or Best Buy (Best Buy has just started carrying Alpine). I got my Alpine speakers on sale at Circuit City and with free install. I love my Alpine.[sm=Awwww.gif][sm=Awwww.gif]

Hey that system is almost identical as mine in the Magnum. I got the CDE-9845 Head CD/MP3/WMA for $180 at Best Buy, hell the signature says it all. I have 5X7 in the rear instead of 6X9 because I found them 1/2 price.

I got an "04 Durango wiring harness and radio install kit. The magnum originally came with a 4 speaker system. I have to live without the auto illumination feature(the radio has a manual control). I tapped off the power outlet/cigarette lighter for the switched 12V. Other than the switched 12V it was a straight forward install. The equipment cost $900 and I fabricated the box and amp rack myself. The stereo shop I got the equipment said they would have charged $750 to fabricate and install the equipement. I think i am in the qrong buisness. The box and amp rack cost me about $40 to make.

Does the neons have a specific listing for the wiring harness adapter or you use the Durango like I did? Also is the neon's radio on the computer bus or is there a switched power lead in the radio harness?
