Amplified Bass Tubes
OK I am currently looking into buying a bass tube with preferably a built in amp. The reason I am looking into doing this is because they are small and can be removed easily plus they have a nice good look. I was wondering if anyone has used one before and if they like it plus i was wondering what type you had or would recomend.

wait let me get this straight casper... you wanted quality so you went with a Qlogic box? 1/2" low density fiber board? COme on now you can build your own box with 3/4" MDf for cheper and it will sound night and day better, If you want a custom fit box get the JL stealth box althought they are more expensive thay are made out of fiberglass and the air spaced is matched exactly to the sub, which it includes.
AS to the base tube question i used to sell bazooka stuff and had one in my very first setup with my minimum wage job. Actual subs do sound better for sure but if you are set on the price they can actually sound pretty good in the right vehicle if tuned properly. IF you get one dont go less than a 10" and it has to be in a hatch back or large vehice like an SUV. That whole bit about working in trucks is a big load of crap. Frankly you would be much better off with a single 10" sub or even better a single 12" which you can usually get a good set up for a litlle less than the amplified. IF you can use a powered screw driver or a hammer and have some geometry skills you can easily build your own box using 3/4" MDF (medium density fiberboard) HOme depot will usually cut the wood for you for 25centsa a cut or something, just buy the shelf sizes. Just put the pices to gether with wood glue and nails or sheet rock screws. Just make sure you cut the pices so that the interior volume is what the speaker wants (your salesman can help you figure this) and dontforget to stuff some polyfill(pillow stuffing at Walmart) is lsows down the interior sound waves and makes the sub hit deeper. For box carpet you need backless carpet. IF you cant do the carpeting yourself a stereo store should do it cheap. As to the removeablilty you can always put some plug connectors on your subs wires and take your box out just as easy as a base tube.

Don't sell bass tubes short. Some company's have come along way from the whole budget jobbies. The sales manager at our shop managed to get the new Bazooka RS when they arrived last year. I laughed at him because he wanted me to put two of them in his BMW. All I can say is Holy **** These thigs hit and hit hard I was almost considering them for my Ram and I had two Pheonix Gold 12"s powered by a Pheonix Gold Ti amp. If your not looking for rip your face off bass but you want to add Thump to your ride on a budget check out the Bazooka RS 10" bass tube. They will not dissapoint.
12 volt brings up a good point. If you want a tube get the RS series as there is a HUGE difference over the baseline, whatever they are called. The amps are twice as powerful and the sub has nearly twice the throw (harder/deeper base)But trust me dont put them in a small cab like a truck there is not enough room for the bass wave to get going. Any car or SUV will work.
