Stick with alpine for Head Units...

As far as speakers, components, subwoofers, and amplifiers...there's PLENTY better out there...hit me up when it's that time for ya!

I'm an Alpine freak. I love the headunits and amp. I went with the Alpine speakers because I worked out a deal for the local stereo shop when I am deployed and got a good deal on the speakers. The 5X7 will be replaced soon by 6X9's to properly fill out the rear speakers in the rear. Signature says it all. If you go to the webpage, click on the Alpine button for pics. As for choice of speaker brands, its like the choice of boxers or briefs. Some people say components are the way to go, I hate the way just a tweeter sounds in the dash. I hate the way 3-ways sound, too bright for my tastes. I have 2-ways all the way around and it sounds good to me. Thats the most important thing, WHAT SOUNDS GOOD TO YOU!. Head to the shops, ask around, listen to other sysyems. The most important thing is word of mouth advertising. Ask somebody with a system and if they can recommend a shop near you that isnt just out to make MONEY.

Tis true, what sounds good to you...should be good.

If you don't like the sound of components, you have obviously never heard properly tuned components, or the tweeter material must be metal. I hate metal tweeters, suchs as aluminum or titanium tweets. My favorite are silk dome tweeters. Also, components need to be properly power by an amplifier. Stock spaces for mid-bass speakers of the components are not always the best...you may require kick-pods for better imaging and sound. Anyways, components will blow coaxials out of the water in every aspect. Glad you're happy with your stuff tho!

peace

I aggree with you on the metal tweeters, even though the Alpine's are "aluminized". In the S-10 I had BA 4X6 plate with silks and loved it. The main thing is the I dislike is tweets only sound "too bright" to me, same reason I don't like 3-ways. I think that it all in my head. I have been told many a time that I need myhead examined haha. I will eventually get a small 50xX4 amp to drive the dash and doors, or another copy of the rear speaker amp to drive just the door and let the deck run the dash. But I am giving my pocket book a rest.

I have some CDT HD-62 components up front currently. The Mids are sealed in the doors, my 1" silk tweets are mounted on the dash angled towards passengers. I'm currently sending 250 watts rms per side...500 rms total to my components

In al reality, it's a lot of head room...they scream at higher volumes, but I have mine tuned down. But it's awesome to have the headroom, and the EXTREMELY great output and mid-bass. This spring I will be doing DIY components with Adire Audio Extremis mids ( www.adireaudio.com ) fiber-glassed in the doors and Vifa 1" Neodymium Silk Tweeters...I'll be going with active crossover on this setup.

PS:
Best HU's: Alpine, Clarion, Eclipse
Middle HU's: Panasonic, Pioneer, Kenwood

Same here, I have my SRT-4 running everything Alpine. I have an older Alpine head unit that has served me well, the CDA-7863, followed by all new speakers all around. Up front I have the 3 1/2" SPS-080A in the dash, 6 1/2" SPS-170A in the doors and 6 X 9" SPS-690A in the rear. These made a huge improvement in sound quality and clarity. I have always wanted an all Alpine system, but this is the first time I've ever done it.
