Premium sound upgrade in a non-premium equipped truck?
A friend of mine gave me the factory premium speakers and amp from his 07 Jeep after he upgraded his system. I'd like to install his old factory system in my 07 Ram 2500 (that currently has the standard audio package - no dash speakers, no amp).
The door speakers fit just fine with a little minor tweaking. The dash speakers and amp will also fit, but there is no pre-existing wiring harness for them. The local Dodge parts dealer was no help (the guy was lost without a VIN number to use in his search, and he suggested that I'd need the entire dash harness, to the tune of $800-$1,000).
So, can anyone help me figure out a part number or workaround to get the amp and dash speakers to work in my non-premium equipped truck?

There's a good possibility that you'd need to change out the entire dash harness, which in my opinion is not worth the effort for ANY factory audio system. My advice, dump the paper-cone woofers and weak factory amp and get something you'll enjoy for more than a few months.
I absolutely agree that replacing the entire harness isn't worth it. I was hoping that the premium system used a couple of shorter pigtail-type harnesses to get signals to and from the amp. The speakers alone actually sound a lot more full. I'm not looking for audiophile perfection, just a simple upgrade. The moment this venture will cost more than an aftermarket upgrade is the moment it will be abandoned.
Unless Dodge ran the wiring at build, you should abandon this project. The amp will need a harness for output and input to the speakers and from the radio. Maybe your buddy would be willing to give that too....?
Buy a four channel amp and some good speakers, along with a good head unit.
