sub isntall questions
OK, I am new here so please be patient with me. I am upgrading my sound system and I am installing a box under the rear seats. The problem is I can't figure out how to remove the storage compartment covers in order to put the box in. I don't want to break anything so that it can be put back in if need be later down the road. IF someone could help me out or point me in the right direction where I can find detailed instructions that would be great. Thanks in advance.

if you have a 4 door quad cab...you have storage trays right...they have nuts that hold em in...thats for the fold flat floors....the bins under neath dont come out unless you rippem out completely and redo that section of the truck....
Ok, I figured out the answer to the original question but now I have another one. Let me start with some info. I have a 2007 1500 quad cab and I am in the process of installing 2 12" RF PS3D412 DVC 4ohm subs into a custom box that goes under the rear seat. They will be powered by a RF P1000-1bd mono amplifier wired at 1 ohm. I will also have a Clarion NX-500 running the show as soon as it shows up.
My next question is where would be the best place to locate the amp? My friend who is helping me hook everything up and that has all of the knowledge as far as stereo installation, etc. thinks I should mount it to the back of the cab behind the rear seat. I don't know if there is first of all enough room back there and second if the amp will overheat because of the little airflow. I am just looking for some ideas or possibly some pics that show amp locations where the back seats can still be used to carry passengers. I thank everyone in advance.

first off, what box are you using and do you have enough clearance for RF PS3s? Secondly, there is more than enough room for amp on the back wall and behind the seats. If you want pics then click on my link in my signature and there is a folder in there with my amp rack i built
I could be wrong but if I'm not mistaken isn't the amp supposed to be wired to output the same ohm's as the subs? Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just curious I don't wanna screw this thread and get it offtopic.
You usually want the subs wired for the lowest ohm load the amp can handle. Most cases it's 2 ohms. Some of the higher end amps will do 1 ohm. The lower the ohms, the more heat, but more power you get out of the amp.

I am going off of the response I got when I emailed RF and asked and they told me the best amp would be that one wired at 1 ohm. Since I don't know S@#* about all of this yet I have to take their word for it......but I will let everyone know how it goes the first time I turn them on.

I have the speakers in there right now I just haven't wired them and screwed them down and they seem to be fine with plenty of room behind them to do their business. I checked out your pics of your amp rack, very nice, I was wondering how I was going to do it without screwing through the back of my cab. Thanks for the help.
