Default IPOd: nano or classic (flash vs disc) for auto use

I want to install an Ipod behind the dash in my Dakota, using the headunit to control it (USB port in back of head unit).

In deciding between a Nano or Classic, neither storage capacity or physical size are the issues. I am just wondering if one has a serious advantage for mobile use. As I understand it, the flash drive of the nano is a bit more susceptible to heat, while be more resistant to shock.

I will secure the ipod in place, but it will still be jolted by bumps. Not sure how long a classic would tolerate this.

Also, is the classic going to lag or anything? My headunit has "full speed" usb, I don't want to have it slowed down by the ipod.

I already have a 5th gen 16GB nano with all of it's fanciness. This next one doens't need to have tons of extras or be tiny. Opinions? thanks
