I know what you mean, they can hit some higher dbs but they will not come close to 160 db. The highest my buddy every hit with his four FI 18"s in a cement enclosure that took up the entire back (from the back of the front seats back) of a range rover was 164 db and that was MECA certified. I currently have 1.0 cubic foot of air space per enclosure (inside measurements not outside) and I am probably hitting around 120- 130 db, no where close to 160 db. But I have indeed heard nice things about the type r's although I have never heard them before. I have always been a kicker guy so thats why my suggestion is kickers.

get type r's there perfect for these boxes. If you got the right amp. Mine bump, people think I have 12's. AN alpine recently made a new type r 10" that beats harder an is smaller. which is even better for these fox boxes.. I'm planing to sell man an upgrade to those inna couple days haha

Noticed in your signature that it says you have a 2400 watt amp... please tell me you are not only pushing the two 10"s with that amp. If it is putting out an actual 2400 watts and you are pushing only two 10" type r's with it, that means each sub should be getting around 800- 1200 watts to each sub (depending on how its wired). These subs call for 250 watts per coil so if you have 2 coils its 500 watts rms. THAT is why people think you have two 12"s, because you are slowly blowing your speakers... just saying

Noo. It's not really a 2400 watt amp its the old lanzar 2400, It has a bass controller an was cheap for $40 so I couldn't pass it up. Lol the amp is missing alot of things like a subsonic filter.. Which I really wish it had so I can tune them better.. but it does the job till it I get the money for my new HU an new amp.

Thank god lol. Ok so lancer is probably putting out like idk 600 watts or so, so its a good match. I know some idiots around here just go into the audio store, pick some subs that they like then just get the biggest amp they can find because they figure the bigger the amp the better lol which is obviously not always true. I vote you get a hifonics, I have been nothing but pleased with mine and I got it brand new off ebay for $160 and it puts out a true 1200 watts at 1-ohm and its stable at 1-ohm unlike most amps that are only stable at 2-ohms. I know a lot of guys who wil only use hifonics in compitions
