Default Infinity System Question in an 04 1500

I know most of you are going to tell me how much the Infinity system sucks...LOL
I don't really want to get into running a seperate amp and all that, just want clear sound that doesn't distort. Right now my entire system is stock...front door speakers are brand new from the dealer and I still think it sounds crappy. All the other speakers are clear. Are they under powered? Would it help putting in a new headunit that puts out more power? Could my Infinity amp be bad?
Also, if I put in a new headunit, does it bypass the Infinity amp?

The stock infinity system is a dead end, there is no upgrading it, you just have to totally replace it. A new head unit will make the sound better for the back speakers but the front are still going through the amp. you cant add new speakers for the front doors because the amp only send the lows to the doors and the highs to the dash speakers and you can't power the stock speakers by the head unit for the same reason. You'll have to upgrade the head unit and speakers all at once for an okay sound but to really have a nice system you need to add a amp.

you have to find 2ohm 6X9's..which is next to impossible but that is the catch

Rplacing just your HU isn't gonna make a world of difference but it would prob help. There is a kicker system that you can buy that is much better than the Infinity set-up, but that's kinda expensive.

You say you replaced the door speakers, but what about the dash speakers? They could be the ones making all the crappy noise??? There are 3.5" mids up in the front corners. You can buy aftermarket speaks that will work with the stock amps and be cheaper than the dealer and sound as good or prob. better than the Infinity's.

^^^Dude, you totally jacked his thread...lol

To replace the Infinity speakers and to use the OEM amp without any problems, you would want to replace the speakers with the same voice coil resistance which are 2ohm. You can install 4ohm, but they will only get 1/2 the power 2ohm speakers will and the factory amp isn't putting out tons of power even at 2ohms.
That's he general idea. I have no idea what the total speaker load draw is on the factory amp. Adding or changing speakers alters that and must be taken notice to.

To OP, are you sure your speaker leads and all your connections are solid and intact? Did you pull the radio out and check the wires back there?

Component Speakers: Tweeters are seperate from the woofers. Woofers are in the doors and your midrange/tweeters are up in the dash

I'm sure one of my questions will help him haha and better than opening another thread asking the exact same thing since I'm having the same problem..haha

Hemi07- I too think the speakers suck but after messing with controls etc I noticed my two dash speakers are the worst. try listening to those.

I just bought a new HU. Will this mess any of the stock stuff up? I don't want a full system just some nice sounding speakers that aren't junk. So if I go out to buy speakers I need to look for 2ohm 6x9s?

my dash speakers are clear...its the front door speakers that sound crappy with the bass and there is no highs coming out of them hardly
just though that replacing the HU with one that puts out more power than the factory would make the speakers sound better as it did on previous vehicles I've owned.
My connections in the door are solid...
