Hey has anyone done this? I hate the stock deck because I cant plug my ipod into it, and it just looks old! I am going to do this eventually. its on my list of things to-do for my ram! Anyhow if you have done this could you give me a breif overview of what you did, if you used an aftermarket deck to replace it can you tell me which one, and maybe show me some pictures of what it looks like?

Id look into the alpine CDA-105, it about $200 and is one of the best ones out for the price. It has full ipod hook up, you can use any device with a usb plug. The install is very basic and I would never tell anyone to pay for labor. Basically all you need is the head unit, a faceplate for the dash, and a harness. All you do is take the plug on the back of the radio that is a pigtail and match up the corresponding wires on your harness' pigtail. I like to solder but you can crimp also. That basically it. Fit the faceplate into the dash and the the radio slides in.

 

I say if you are going to do it then do a double DIN headunit with Navi and more. Get one with bluetooth and USB ports. Getting one to fit in an 05 isnt hard. I mod the radio bezels to make them fit.

 

Hey Weedahoe, Do you have a faceplate for putting a DD into a 2005 Ram 3500? Thinking about a Kenwood DNX 5120.

You can send me your radio bezel and I can do it and ship it back to you for 90 with the head unit mounting brackets.

If you cannot separate the radio bezel from the console then you can send the console and I will do it and ship it back for 100.

If you need one of my bezels first then it is 120 and I will send 30 back to you once you send me your original bezel.
