Default a couple issues

Ok, i have an 02 RAM 1500 SLT with the 5.9. I bought the truck about a year ago, being told everything in it was stock. Well about 6 months my speakers started cutting out, one at a time. Well now I'm back to just a single speaker. So I went out to my local car audio store and naught a brand new set of rockford forsgates 6x9's and 5.25 speakers. I decided to do the install myself. Anyway, I removed the door panels and to my surprise it already had a set of rockford fosgates in it and nicer then the ones is bought. I plugged in my new speakers and they didn't work either. Is there anyway the speakers could have fried the wiring? I'm not much for electronics so needless to say I'd love to get some advice. Another question I have is I got a new deck, a boss bc9970, which has a pop up dvd screen and all that jazz. But it requires me to hook a wire to the parking brake. My question is does anyone know how i can bypass this? I know its not legal, but with work I'm required to drive families around for hours on our ranch and itd be nice to be able to put something on for their kids to watch a movie and not be sticky all over everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, the wiring is not fried. There may be some broken leads. Time to dig out the multimeter and test for continuity. You could also have a blown amp. Hope it's not that.

Welcome to the site

Agreed, the wiring in the rubber boot from the door to the body is known to get pinched and broken. You might wanna check it. You can also pull the lower B pillar loose and check the wiring from there and see how it goes through it to get to the speaker.

As for the Boss head unit, some units can be done and some cannot. The problem you have is that is not a very popular HU and so not a lot of people have it. I assume you could put the brake wire on a toggle switch to simulate the P-brake being used or maybe use a relay to simulate as well.

Yeah, it took some wiring and some frustrating testing but I got it working, thanks for the help!
