Custom Audio Questions
I currently have two 8" subs and they sound great. They sound very clean and are perfect for my long drives to school and such BUT... I miss the way my twelves could really pound
. So I have a new idea but need some help. So I want to keep my 8"s but I want to also add a 15". Is there anyway I could have like an on/off switch for the 8"s and the 15" so that I could only play the 8"s when I want to or only the 15"? I know I need another amp but is there anything else I would need to do? Thanks in advance for the help.
I did something like that in the family car. I left the stock speakers connected and just used a lighted rocker switch to turn off/on the amp to the subs. (turned off when the babies were in it) You could use Y splitters from the RCA jacks to go to the two amps and just a use a switch to turn on the amp to the 15"s. Maybe a 3 position switch to cut out the 8"s when the 15"s are on.
Make sure that you connect to the remote turn on, and not the main power line. I think that 2 switches would make for easier installation. Then you can have both the 15 and the 8's on or any combination of the two. As far as audio, most amps have rca out, so just connect that to rca in on the new amp.
Thanks. Thats kinda what I had in mind. I already have an on/off for the 8s so when my dad borrows it he doesn't complain. After I found the box for my hu I see that there are 3 sets of RCA outs, so could I just run the 15 the same way I have the 8s? Then I wouldn't have to worry about splitting the cords or touching the 8s at all. Sounds like the hardest part will be making a box big enough to fit the 15 and figuring out where the 15 will fit lol
As a college student, I try to keep myself up-to-date on things of this nature. So call me old school but what the heck is a "PLC"?
