Default Installing New HU In Magnum

I am getting it done by an installer, but I heard somewhere there is a problem with power after you install an aftermaket HU. Can anyone tell me if it is true or not, and if it is how to avoid the problem...

Default RE: Installing New HU In Magnum

There are a couple of power issues with the Magnum when changing stuff.

Prior to install, there is no switched power lead in the harness. I had to tap off the cigarette lighter. Block 18 of the rear fuseblock has 3 slots for the 18 fuse to sit in. Guys with the smokers group will have the fuse in the foward 2 slots(looking at it from the rear hatch open, constant power to the lighter), non-smokers will have it in the rearward slots(switched power to the AUX power outlet). I didnt figure this out til later after running the remote turnon lead for the amps to the rear. When I installed the fans and LED bar, I used a fusetap for switched power for cooling and lighting. It is an 20 amp fuse so it will work

After install:There are some resets that have to be done when power has been removed. Window auto up/down, something about throttle and sometimes the passenger seat air bad weight detector. I think the owners manual tell you how to reset everything but the seat. It is a process that the dealer has to do because it involves calibrated weights. When I removed the seat to run the wiring I had to take mine in and it took 45 min for them to reset it.

What you can do is 1) look in the manual (im too lazy to get it right now ahah), 2) go to MAGNUM section and see if DODGEMECH is around 3) take it to the dealer and tell them the power has been disconnected for aftermarket work. Depending on how you dealer is, they will do the resets for free.
