Default Help installing AVIC-X930BT in 2008 RAM 1500

Hey Guys,

I am planning on installing a Pioneer AVIC-X930BT in a 2008 Ram 1500.

The Ram is a Quad Cab 5.7 v8, 4 speaker setup with the basic cd player.

I just want to confirm that I need the following items:

1. OEM Navi Bezel
2. Special Harness with data etc to hook up to a GPS navi unit
3. Mounting bracking and trim

is there anything else that I would need?

Please let me know.

Thanks

I went to a double din as well the pioneer 310 bt and thats all I used, just take your time and make SURE to disconnect the battery or you'll be working with blown fuses.

part numbers for parts required other than the OEM navi bezel

From Metra electronics
40cr10 - chrysler antenna adapter
xsvi-6502 harness with module for RAP with standard audio system
99-6510 - dash kit for truck.

All of these are readily available online. pretty easy truck to work on

Thanks for the replies,

Can anyone advise what speaker sizes will easily fit in the doors?

Do i need any brackets for the speakers, any specific brands that wont' fit any recommended ones?

Thanks

it's the same harness... they changed the part numbers the -Nav just means it gives outputs for VSS, Parking brake, and Reverse... Although I wouldn't use them.. I have been installing professionally for a number of years and I have yet to see one of those harnesses actually give good outputs for those. You might get lucky and it could work

Most newer nav systems don't have VSS inputs but it has been making a comeback.. Parking brake can be gotten at the actual parking brake on these trucks.. and reverse wire is just an input to make the unit switch to the rear cam if you put one in there.. although on these trucks the reverse wire is at the PCM... so it's better to just tag the 12v+ at the actual reverse lights in the back.

6x9's will fit in the front doors and the rear doors are either a 5.25 or 6.5... most of the time you need to make your own brackets/spacers for an aftermarket 6x9 to fit in the door.. but that's not a big deal.. You could put 6.5"s up front by making your own bezels /adapters but unless you are going to put a sub you might not be satisfied with the loss of bass response by going to a lower size speaker..

U can but then you're going to have to find accessory power from somewhere else in the car... And you will loose retained acc power.. Meaning the radio won't stay on with key out until u open the door... Up to you.. Buy the harness and its pretty easy.. Without it you might end up in over your head.
