Default 2005 Magnum Navigation System Upgrade?

Will a 2011 navigation system fit in a 2005? I'm about to purchase a 2005 Magnum that has a navigation system and steering wheel controls and I would love to have all the features in one of the newer systems. Will a 2011 system just fit in and work with the 2005 harnesses?

Thanks,
walt

If you are talking about OEM gear then yes it will fit but no will will not work. The wiring and plugs are different.

if it is after market then it can be made to work

Well that's a step in the right direction. Are there any harness assorted for this? I'm sure if I chose to go aftermarket there would be a harness adapter to fit. Could I just build my own from two of those harnesses and the vehicle/radio pin schematics?

Thanks,
Walt

You could try and anything will work if you throw enough time, money and patience at it. But therein lies a problem, how much time, money and patience is worth it? See my point?

Haha kinda, still gotta be cheaper than buying a 2011 vehicle just for the navigation features though!
I'm an electronics engineer by trade and just finished removing a computer system from my 06 ram, rather than install all the hardware in the magnum I'd like to get by with a simpler solution.
I'll post an update when I get somewhere

Lol any interest in a 160w opus? I've also got a 15" touchscreen I had mounted on an LCD arm in the stickshift hole.

I've a actually discovered what I was looking for, the lockpick now comes in an adapter form specifically to upgrade pre-08 vehicles to the modern "mygig" it provides full steering wheel controls and EVIC interface.

Thanks for the help,
Walt

Im actually running a 180w Opus. 15" LCD is way too big IMO. No place to successfully mount it without it looking like it does not belong there.
