Default OEM HU swap w/ VES

I am new to this forum, and have done some research on this site, as well as on the web - all with not much success.

My unit is a model number P05091720AE (RAQ). It has 2 connectors on the back and a cooling fan on the side. If I can, I would prefer to have a singe cd player with an aux out for an ipod connection, but I still want the DVD player to operate and I was hoping to keep the infinity amps since the system overall sounds pretty good to me.

spande,

I wish I could help. I just recently joined this forum just for this specific issue! I have a 2005 Durango with the REF unit and I am having issues with an aftermarket iPod auxiliary connection. The connection keeps shorting out and I have to keep pulling the head unit's fuse and put it back in just so the iPod auxiliary will play. I select the iPod through the MODE button and it uses the SAT feature because I don't have satellite radio. When it shorts out, the MODE button doesn't work and the SAT option isn't even available.

To make a long story short, the dealer where I had it installed replaced the iPod auxiliary setup twice and it still has the same problem. So, I am looking to replace the entire REF factory unit with a newer 2006 REF model with the auxiliary cord attachment on the outside.

I've done all the research and still no luck. I wish someone knew if these radios could just plug in and work. Until then, I will keep researching.
