Default New headunit isnt working

I just bought a new aftermarket headunit for my 2000 dodge ram with it a new aftermarket wiring harness. After taking out the old headunit and putting in the new one, i cant seem to get any sound from any of the speakers. The new deck is getting getting power becasue when i turn the key to the run position, the deck lights up but now sound. Any ideas?

If you have an on-board OEM amp and didnt wire remote power to the remote wire to turn on the amp then you would get no sound at all.

you should have a solid blue from the deck for remote. it should be hooked to a solid blue or blue/white. depending if you have power antenti or not.

How is the iPod connected to the HU? Via 3.5mm stereo cord? FM modulator? Special rar mounted adapter?

Im assuming you are setting the HU to Aux mode for this external audio input?

So maybe try a different non-OS MP3 player to test against the ipod so you know if it is the ipod or the HU.

Some OS based devices when connected via USB can be detected as a "mass storage device" and at that point need drivers to fully work. Obviously because your HU isnt OS based it can neither provide or load drivers. If you have an aux port that is 3.5mm then I would use that as it recognizes only audio and not hardware detection

i definitaly tried the front aux which is just a thin cord that goes into the ipod and it still doesnt work so i know its not the ipod.

hook up amp turn on from the aftermarket deck into the blue wire in the harness from the truck that you have... right now ur using the power ant wire from the aftermarket deck which makes the factory amp work when using the tuner... when using any other source then you end up with no audio because the amp shuts down.
