IPAD in Dodge Ram 1500 Dash
My guess would be anywhere between 500 and 1000 depending on the finish type desired. That one in the pic would be a bit cheaper since it's either vinyl or leather wrapped. If you wanted a painted finish it would be more due to the increased surface prep needed.
That's just including labor.. not parts and the ipad and whatever audio interfaces that you wanted to use to get it to play through the speakers.

That is a pretty wicked dash, but do you lose your AM/FM, CD (even tho you have access to your itunes).
And how will the ipad react if a friend wants to connect their ipod/iphone/ipad for some tunes? Will it sync and delete your tunes?

AS far as the losing your am/fm you have to options with that. If the ipad is 3g. of you have a wifi hotspot. You can either use the iHeartRadio app which streams radio stations live. Or most if not all radio stations have a listen live on their site. Which I know works with an iphone, not sure about ipads though.
it all is dependent upon what type of aftermarket radio/receiver is installed in the vehicle in addition to the IPAD.. There are ways to do it without losing anything at all.. the only downside is that the more things you want to keep in addition to the IPAD.. the more the price goes up.
Search YouTube for install vids. Shop that does it installed ipad2's with plug that allowed am/fm and what not. Yes you lose cd but internet radio to gain. And if you have the Xm radio app which is cheaper than Xm radio unit then you've got plenty of music. If money wasn't a problem I'd love to do this but not with an apple product. Sorry just hate Steve jobs lol. BUt a Samsung 10.1 would work perfectly.

I would install your headunit in the glovebox.... that way you can just use the aux input to control it... or if a company is fabbing it up they can fab up a single din slot beneath the ipad for your aftermarket head unit.... no need for a audio interface to make it work with your speakers... I've been looking into this for a while.
My plan is to create this dashboard by using fiberglass and then wrap the bezel with carbon fiber. I will be starting the construction of the new dash by weeks end. I will take pictures as I go and post on the thread.
I will be losing my factory radio and will use Pandora for "radio", goggle maps for GPS and the IPAD for music and video.
When it comes to the sound processing, planing on using a DSP, (analog to digital converter) and feeding the output to the Alpine Imprint and then to the amps.
If anyone has a better idea/suggestion, please let me know.
Thanks.

IF You install an aftermarket head unit (hooked to the factory wiring) ... You could theoretically mount it almost anywhere, Dash, Center console, Glove Box... Etc. This would give you the option to hook up an auxiliary input to be hooked up to your ipad.... Without sacrificing sound quality.
