Question 1999 ram stereo replacement help

I have just purchased my son his first vehicle, a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. I have not been around stereos in a long time and need a little information. I want him to have a really good sounding system with moderate Bass. I figured that I would go to at reputable local dealer but with myself or my son not knowing alot about stereos I would like to have a little information before I get there. Could some of you with similar vehicles offer any advice? It would be greatly appreciated.

Sticking with local stores is a good idea but price shop around and then compare prices of the model youre considering online like ebay. You can buy decent head units of a reputable brand for 50 and up

Default Thanks for the reply

I appreciate you taking time to reply back to me. We went with a local dealer who was about 10% less than crutchfield and everything looks and sounds great. Just to let everyone know the route they went was: Single Din Kenwood receiver, 4 6x9 infinity Kappas, 2 Kenwood amps and I can not remember the size ( I am sure my son could tell you), and 2 10" JL subs underseat in the extended cab. System sounds great.
