I wasn't able to get my shuffle to work correctly in the glove box usb port. I hooked it up to the front and the radio downloaded all of the songs.

Nope that did not work either. I am going take it to the dealer since the it will not download anything from a CD or USB drive either. I can not get pictures or anything to go to the hard drive.

You may want to check for the radio software upgrade. Pretty easy to do and seems to have cleaned up a few issues I was having.

What year is the vehicle & do you know the build date?
If it's a 2011 built prior to 6-1-2011 then there is a Uconnect SW update available. The dealer can perform i under TSB 08-019-12. It is also available for you to do yourself if you'd like to. It's a simple update.

The Shuffle is not a compatible item to Uconnect. Other Ipods/ IPhones will not work from the radio mounted USB connector. Nor will you be able to download your music from the Apple device to the radio HD.
