What exactly are you trying to figure out?
I have a REC unit in my truck and the difference in DVD's is how recent they are for map accuracy purposes.
The two letter code at the end of the disc number is what edition it is. AK is the latest disc. You will often see older discs labeled AF, AB, AC, etc. That is just designating what edition the disc is. The REC Head unit will function fine with any of the versions. The only difference will be how up to date the maps are.
I bought my REC unit out of a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country. I am now on my third map disc, this version being a hacked copy of the AK version that allows you to make inputs while driving. No more "MAP INPUT HAS BEEN PAUSED WHILE IN MOTION" Nonsense.
So long as the disc says "Alpine Electronics" in the small writing around the outer edge of the label it will work in ANY REC head unit. Makes no difference what year the REC unit was. If your head unit says "REC" in the lower corner, you can use any version of the disc with it.
If this was not the question you were asking, then what is it you need to know?
