If you're blowing up your audio system, let an audio shop look at it. Most likely, your speakers aren't wired correctly, or you're running it WAY too hard. The number of batteries will have no effect (unless they're wired wrong, too).
More cone surface area equals the ability to more more air.

as far as what can 8 accomplish vs 2 solid ones?.... well the first setup i ran in here was 2 15" shocker super extremes and 4000watts rms and simply put, this is much, MUCH louder. and why do it? because i can, and because i can roll into a competition and beat a LOT of other people out there who have strictly comp setups and this one is designed to street beat.
same idea as why run 8" suspension lift with 40" tires when a 6" and 35s will work. BECAUSE I CAN
