Default installing aftermarket radio/sat nav

Sorry if this has been answered before. I have looked at several pages of threads, before asking.

I want to know if i can use the existing Infinity Adrenaline system, which includes subwoofer, with an aftermarket radio/cd sat nav. i understand the steering wheel controls will work, but the subwoofer won't.

is there a way to still use all OEM audio speakers, with the sound quality they give, with an aftermarket radio?

Sure they can be used but you will need a special interface harness to go from the after market head unit to the OEM wiring harness

thanks for the info.

Next question is.........what kind of interface is required to make the two systems compatable. Is it something to do with the CAN-Bus, and you require a Can -bus SL bypass kit? Or am i barking up the wrong tree, and it's as simple as splicing/adding in a different wiring harness and if so where do i get one. Any info would be greatly received.

thanks

All the you need is the correct harness to connect to the unit and the vehicle

the vendor said that the OEM Infinity Adrenalin system wouldn't work completly as original, as the new head unit already has an 45watt amp built in, so making the existing amp redundant so it won't work the Subwoofer.......

My truck, like many others, came with the factory Infinity system and lots of use after market head units and ALL after market head units have built in low powered amplifiers

Pac Audio makes the harness you will need. KEnwood has a new harness coming out shortly that will be the best option.
Call me if you need more info. We have full radio packages available as well.

Thanks for the info.
Yes i am aware of Pac, and the part number being C2R-CHY4, just trying to find the cheapest place to get it, no one in the UK stocks this interface, well that's not true, those that do are asking an arm & leg for one. The cheapest place i have found so far is Amazon, but this has thrown a spanner in the works, as they show 2x C2R-CHY4, but with very slightly different descriptions, i expect the only difference is in the suppliers tech description they gave to Amazon.

why do you say Kenwood would be a better bet than Pac, i am curious, but bow to your knowledge on this matter. Do you have any prices/availability, and would you ship to the UK?

the last time i changed an OEM radio was in about 1974, so things have moved on a bit, back then the Radiomobile only had MW (AM) and LW, and you only had 4 wires to worry about.

IMO, youre just better off adding the after market unit and some decent co-ax door speakers. From there you can run your own wire from the new HU to the doors with the new speakers that will net better sound than the OEMs and at the same time add a small amp to power the sub.

No harness needed - $0
door speakers - $100
small amp kit - $20
small amp - $50
roll of 14-16ga wire - $20

Better sound - priceless.
